Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure
Paddle across Mendenhall Lake in an authentic Tlingit canoe to the glacier, navigating past icebergs and surrounded by a rich sampling of Alaskan wildlife. Eagles, goats, salmon and bears are all common. Venture within yards of the massive, awe-inspiring Mendenhall Glacier, and grab a thrill ride by skirting the base of beautiful and powerful Nugget Falls. Then refuel with a snack of Alaskan-style fare for the return.
Your Tlingit-style canoe is an exceptionally stable 28-foot watercraft, with all modern safety gear supplied. Because of the close approach to the glacier face, the Forest Service tightly controls the number of participants. Be one of the lucky few to experience this one-of-a-kind adventure. Tour includes: Round-trip transportation from dock or hotel, quality rain gear, overboots and life jackets. Snack includes hot beverage (on cold days) and water plus reindeer sausage and salmon spread and crackers.
